Hold Fast Out from Empty Bowl Press

Hold Fast Cover.jpeg

My most recent collection Hold Fast arrived from publisher Empty Bowl a month before the pandemic, and I’m grateful for the lively book launch at Finnriver Farm and a reading at Darvill’s Bookstore on Orcas Island before the rest of the reading tour was cancelled.

Like the title, Hold Fast, many of the poems turn out to be quite timely, though when I wrote them, none of us had an inkling of what 2020 would bring. I’m hoping to reschedule the readings---I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I’m giving readings online---check out the EVENTS to see what’s coming. You can also check out READ, WATCH, LISTEN to hear a few me read a few poems from Hold Fast.   You can even hear the poem “Holdfast” set to music here.

If you’d like to order Hold Fast, please order from Empty Bowl or from your local independent bookstore. Below is a review posted on Amazon—and you can check out more reviews here.

“A strong volume of poems that engages the natural world and the human place within it. Holly Hughes is one of our finest ecopoets.”
